The American Opera Project (AOP) will present two songs written in their renowned training program, Composers & the Voice at New York Opera Alliance’s “NYOA Next”, an evening featuring performances from NYOA company productions that will be presented later in NYOperaFest 2022.
The American Opera Project invites you to join us on Sunday, March 21st for a webinar and Q&A session about Composers & the Voice. During this webinar, C&V’s program directors will explain the details of the 2-year program, including sharing videos of previous C&V projects from first workshop to final product.

Following a powerful presentation in last year’s Page to Stage new opera showcase, the Manhattan School of Music students and directors return to present new scenes from The Interaction Effect, a moving drama that digs deep into one of the central issues for today’s young adults.
The American Opera Project's vocal writing training program Composers & the Voice opens its doors for a special guest session on the countertenor voice. C&V Artistic Director Steven Osgood leads a workshop with opera countertenors Jordan Rutter, Eric S. Brenner, and Ju-eh and music director Kelly Horsted in which the singers will perform classic and contemporary songs and discuss the particulars of their individual voices. Guests are welcome to observe as our eight composer and librettist fellows from this year's program ask questions and gain knowledge in how to write for the countertenor voice.
Washington National Opera’s American Opera Initiative presents new 20-Minute Operas created by Composers & the Voice artists Michael Lanci, Sokunthary Svay, and Kimberly Davies, among others. Three world premiere short operas—Woman of Letters, Admissions, and Night Trip—will be staged in a concert performance, accompanied by a small chamber orchestra and followed by a Q&A with the artists and creative team.
