Best-selling author Karen Russell (Swamplandia!, Orange World), composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone (indie band San Fermin), and director/choreographer Troy Schumacher (NYC Ballet) are bringing their unique talents together to create The Night Falls, a dance-driven blend of movement, opera, and musical theater. Currently in development at AOP, The Night Falls is a modern myth of isolation, despair, and the community we need to save us from the lure of the Sirens' fatal song.
On Thursday, May 13, AOP and The Center for Fiction will bring together these passionate artists as the latest guests to Note/Books, a series that showcases the transformation of fiction to opera. Joseph V. Melillo (BAM Executive Producer Emeritus) will moderate the in-depth look at the work’s unique chronology from prose to music to movement.
