About the curators:
Blythe and Michael, after having sung AS ONE multiple times, have developed a close personal and professional relationship with each other and with Laura, who wrote her most recent opera, Hometown to the World (librettist Kimberly Reed; Santa Fe Opera) with the two of them in mind; they will sing the world premiere next season. The three artists have been in close contact since the onset of the pandemic, and all wanted to find a way to share their music, bring joy, and build community in this time of isolation. The three reached out to fellow artists who they believe are generous humanists and who would join in the endeavor, and after lots of conversation, this initial series of three livestream events tied to three significant May holiday weekends - Mother's Day, Commencement, and Memorial Day was created. The diversity of program offerings, the life-embracing theme of each concert, and the joy in sharing motivated the creators to curate these evenings that they hope will be life-affirming for those participating as both artist and audience members.
