Join us September 12 at the National Opera Center to experience excerpts of four new operas written to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, presented by American Opera Projects and the Opera Lab at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
"The Stonewall Operas are examples of the power and versatility of contemporary opera," says Randall Eng, founder of the NYU/Tisch Opera Lab. "By looking at this signal historic event 50 years in the past, the composers and librettists are wrestling with issues, characters and situations that speak deeply to them as artists living in the world today."
Following the performance, hear the works' creators — all from the NYU/Tisch Opera Lab — talk about what it was like to write their operas. And then mingle with the creators and artists at a casual reception after the event.
