American Opera Projects in consultation with Opera On Tap created and presented an Opera Maker Lab for students at Ebbets Field Middle School in NYS District 57 in Prospect Lefferts Garden who participated in a free after-school program October 2024 - January 2025.

Opera Maker Lab introduces students to all aspects of opera by giving them the agency to jump right in and create their own opera leveraging our custom kit of assets! Skills they will be introduced to include:

• Writing: storytelling and composition

• Design: set design, lighting and sound, costume hair and makeup, props selection

• Stage Direction: staging and rehearsal

• Business: marketing and promotion

• Production: performance and reflection

2024-25 Opera Maker Lab was funded in part by NY State Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest of District 57 and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
